How Delta-v Capital saves time and cuts costs by building AI workflows with Carta Plugins for Claude

Delta-v Capital, a venture capital firm founded in 2009 and headquartered in Denver, Colorado, manages 28 funds with a team of fewer than 20 people. The firm focuses on high-growth, middle-market technology startups and provides its portfolio companies with collaborative operational support.

That means COO Kyle Rogers often juggles competing priorities. One of them is leading Delta-v into an AI-powered future that flows from data and transactions originating on Carta.

With the new Carta Plugins for Claude, Rogers and his team can build workflows connecting Delta-v’s fund administration data with records across multiple surfaces.

Within weeks, Delta-v developed several bespoke knowledge modules, known as skills on Claude, to cut manual work and save time.

Carta Plugins for Claude help Delta-v advance on its AI roadmap

Prior to adopting Carta Plugins for Claude, Delta-v housed fund and portfolio data across multiple systems, including Carta for fund data, iLevel for portfolio company information, Dropbox for file storage, and Patio for customer relationship management.

With earlier versions of connectors, Kyle struggled to pull data together for projects and reports. He still had to manually stitch certain information together, cross-checking for accuracy before narrowing in on his objectives.

“Carta’s connector creates one source of information for all of our fund-level, LP, and portfolio company information,” says Kyle. “The consolidation brings us closer to our goal of shifting otherwise time-consuming task work to Claude. All the information we need is up-to-date and accessible so Claude can automatically perform a wider range of work.”

Delta-v is poised to slash days of manual work from valuations and reporting

Preparing quarterly reports used to take Delta-v weeks to complete. Kyle and his team would pull financial workbooks from multiple sources and populate 28 separate spreadsheets.

For a while, Kyle uploaded financial statements into Claude individually and prompted Claude to create each funds’ spreadsheets. It still took many days of work.

Valuations were similar. Pulling every portfolio company’s financial data from iLevel has traditionally required extensive manual work each cycle, even with earlier AI capabilities.

The Carta plugin compresses Delta-v’s efforts into a more instantaneous workflow, pulling data directly from the Fund ERP for real-time calculations and reporting.

“One prompt pulls every data point,” says Kyle. “I can say definitively it's going to save us multiple days next year.”

Delta-v develops its own AI tools alongside Carta

Delta-v’s finance team has since built additional skills with Carta Plugins for Claude, including a management fee auditor that checks quarterly fees against LPA terms and Carta files, a financial statement auditor that reviews quarterly financials against workbooks and prior-period statements, and an SEC compliance review tool that clears pitch books before distribution.

“We believe Carta Plugins for Claude represents an investment in our future. When we get to a point that we can review more, we can think more,” says Kyle. “It empowers Delta-v to build stronger portfolio companies, because we can do our diligence and support our investments faster and more closely.”
