What it is
A deal group is the chain of entities, including SPVs, holding vehicles, and blockers, connecting a portfolio company to the funds that own it. Because the same entity can appear in multiple deal groups, Carta Waterfall now lets you assign a different waterfall model to each one.
Why it matters
Fund managers running waterfalls on shared entities can now assign a different model to each deal group. Results reflect each deal group's specific fund structure, even when the same entity participates in deals with different economics.
