Today, we are launching Carta Plugins for Claude, Anthropic's AI assistant, embedding our system of record and mathematical precision directly into the spreadsheets and tools where your daily work happens.
Fifteen years ago, we set out to solve a fundamental architectural flaw: Private capital was running on fragile, disconnected spreadsheets.
We built Carta to fix that. We moved cap tables and fund ledgers off of local hard drives and into a single, connected system of record. Today, that database is the trusted foundation for 50,000 companies and 9,000 funds.
But while the official record belongs in a secure, centralized database, we know that the analytical work—the scenario modeling, the forecasting, and the deck building—still naturally happens in tools like Excel and PowerPoint.
Historically, getting data into those tools required a tedious export loop: downloading a CSV, copying and pasting rows, and manually rebuilding formulas. It’s slow, and it introduces room for error.
We didn't want to fight how teams naturally work. We wanted to make their favorite tools faster and more secure.
Instead of forcing you to change your workflow, we are embedding Carta’s private capital expertise directly into your everyday AI workspace. And our early customers are already experiencing the step-change in operational speed.
Stuart Johnson, fund controller at Tribe Capital Management, Inc., told us:
"When the Carta Plugin for Claude worked, my initial reaction was: Wow, I can't believe this is finally here. It's like everything you've ever wanted in terms of cutting down on manual workflows and turnaround times. We've been able to cut down that manual, complicated web of reconciliation across four funds and 100 SPVs—from a week of doing it manually to a day."
Carta is a portfolio company of certain private funds managed by Tribe Capital Management, Inc. No compensation was provided for this testimonial.
Why we built plugins
We know that CFOs and founders cannot have an AI "hallucinating" financial figures or changing ledger records behind their backs.
To prevent this, we split the job clearly:
Carta runs the deterministic math: All payouts, waterfalls, vesting schedules, and journal entries are computed on Carta’s native engine. Rather than handing the math over to a model to guess, we package deterministic Python scripts directly into the plugin. The numbers carry legal and historical weight—they are exact to the penny, authoritative, and auditable.
Claude Plugins do the heavy lifting: Claude acts as the interface executing the work inside your daily workflows—instantly querying those secure, reconciled numbers to build your active models, summarize your reports, or map your slides in seconds.
You keep total control: The plugins run on the same user-level permissions and audit trails you already have set up in Carta. Claude cannot change your underlying data without your permission.
Specialized tools for forward-looking private capital teams
We have packaged these capabilities into three specialized plugins built for the actual day-to-day jobs of your teams. Each plugin contains a series of specialized skills that allow you to analyze data and automate daily routines using natural language.
1. Carta Investors Plugin for Claude
This plugin for fund CFOs and controllers puts your fund’s live performance, financials, and compliance data to work, directly in your AI workspace. Here are just a few of the use cases we’ve built for:
Real-time budget vs. actual reconciliations: Pull live cash actuals from Carta’s general ledger into Excel, then use Claude to instantly compare them against your annual budget to map cash pacing and identify overspend categories.
Automated AGM deck generation: Dynamically pull the latest multi-fund performance metrics, investment records, and portfolio asset data from Carta to generate a complete PowerPoint AGM deck in minutes.
Interactive waterfall simulations (Excel + Claude): Run end-to-end waterfall simulations inside your active spreadsheets by opening the Claude sidebar to query secure Carta data, allowing you to evaluate priced rounds, model vesting impacts, and map complex equity breakpoints.
2. Carta CRM Plugin for Claude
This plugin is built for investor relations teams to analyze historical LP activity, track commitments, and draft targeted communications. It also serves deal teams who need to monitor active pipelines and generate performance analytics—like IRR and MoM charts—without context-switching. Use cases include:
Bespoke historical performance analytics: Pull active deal pipelines alongside live fund financial metrics like IRR and MoM, then use Claude to instantly generate custom, color-coded visual charts to isolate your deal origination trends by geography or industry for anchor LP reviews.
Targeted fundraising segmentation: Query investor profiles and recent engagement records directly from the Carta CRM module, then use Claude to filter historical LP activity—such as identifying who invested in previous funds and attended specific AGMs—to build high-probability outreach lists for upcoming fundraises.
Automated contextual LP outreach: Extract specific investor relationship histories, past commitment notes, and deal logs from your CRM data, then use Claude to instantly draft personalized update emails or fully styled HTML event invitations tailored precisely to an investor's historical background.
3. Carta Cap Table Plugin for Claude
The Cap Table Plugin for startup founders, finance leaders, and equity administrators, delivers deep ownership, valuation, and stakeholder analytics directly into Claude and other workspaces. Here are just a few of the cap table use cases we’ve built:
Automated board deck generation: Dynamically pull live cap table summaries, 409A valuation records, and outstanding option pool data from Carta, then use Claude to instantly draft complete, executive-ready board presentations in PowerPoint to streamline your meeting preparation.
Custom equity report generation: Extract live securities data and transaction logs directly from Carta, then use Claude to instantly filter, compute, and assemble 18 different report types—including options outstanding, vesting details, and securities ledgers—for seamless export to Excel.
Real-time compensation benchmarking: Query role, leveling, and location details against Carta's total compensation database, then use Claude to instantly pull precise salary and equity benchmarks to ground hiring offers in real data instead of guesswork.
Proactive portfolio health scanning: Investors using the cap table plugin for their portfolio companies can query compliance timelines and round parameters across your active company entities, then use Claude to instantly scan for operational red flags such as expiring 409A valuations, low option pools, or maturing SAFEs ahead of critical board calls.
Delivering for our customers
We built this integration to make your day-to-day operations faster and connected. By letting the AI handle the manual assembly, we want to free up builders to focus on strategic work.
The Carta Plugins for Claude are available in the Claude plugin directory for our Fund Administration, CRM, and Cap Table customers.
We can't wait to see how they speed up your day-to-day work.
