I recently joined Cameron Stanfil from Pitchbook, Justin Field from NVCA, and Katherine Andersen from SVB to discuss fundraising, dealflow, and exit activity based on the Q1 2020 Venture Monitor Report.

We also discussed the impact of COVID-19 and expectations for Q2. Highlights include:

  • Exits were first to see effects as the IPO window has essentially closed

  • Mega-deals represent 50% of total capital investment

  • Dry powder sits at record levels ($120B)

  • Valuations trends by stage from 2019 to 2020

  • Shifting role of employee equity and venture debt in 2020

Watch the video to hear perspectives on the data, and how Carta, SVB, NVCA, and Pitchbook are adapting to market volatility.
