Carta set out to rearchitect private capital. We’re bringing public market efficiency to the private markets, now accelerated by AI. We’re fueling the transformation of private capital operations with technology untethered by the confines of a web interface. We’re meeting our builders, operators, and funders where they are. Our suite of headless products joins the ERP product suite to enable automation, innovation, and alpha. We are the change agents of private capital.
The Change Agents Briefing is Carta's release digest pulling back the curtain on this journey. We’ll share exactly what we’re building, how it works, and what’s coming next. You’ll also get a look at how our internal teams are using these AI-first tools to verify data with even greater speed and accuracy. The Change Agents Briefing is your window into how we're rethinking processes and experiences to support this new era of productivity.

CFO Symposium
This week, we gathered CFOs at Wildflower Farms in upstate New York for our exclusive East Coast CFO Symposium, and ran an afternoon-long session on the practical applications of AI. Guests opened laptops, fired up Claude and connected to Carta’s system of record. Each guest walked through five real-world scenarios:
Querying performance data—IRR, MOIC, distributions, trends—using natural language
Generating LP tear sheets and AGM decks with a single prompt
Pulling live Carta data into Excel to model portco financials and run a discounted cash flow using the Claude for Excel Plugin
Modeling an anticipated exit, understanding LP distributions, and performing sensitivity analysis
Filling out a Form ADV automatically with data in Carta
Some of these skills are available to Carta customers today; the rest are in active development. Beyond acting as a product showcase, the workstations created something we didn't expect: a bridge between AI optimists and skeptics.
CFOs who were uncertain about AI's place in finance got to feel what it's like to work faster, smarter, and with more confidence. Those already convinced got to see the direction we're heading. Across the board, they saw themselves using these tools—not someday, but right now.

Carta Change Agents onsite in Washington, D.C.
As part of Carta’s wider Change Agents initiative, we’ve been facilitating onsite workshops at client sites with customers who want to learn the fundamentals of working in Claude and deep dive on firm-specific use cases. Last week Chief Product Officer Vrushali Paunikar joined the Change Agents team with QED Investors in Washington, D.C. In the room together, they built skills, made artifacts, and reworked processes, including:
A skill to create an LP tear sheet as meeting prep, based on data from Carta and Affinity
An artifact that displayed all upcoming speaking engagements for the head of firm based on email
A firm branding skill with logos, fonts, and tone of voice guidance
A skill to update valuations for audit
A skill to tag and allocate expenses for QED’s management company
By the end of the day, the QED team was feeling more confident about using Claude in their day-to-day operations. And the Carta team saw once again that the roadblock to AI adoption is not desire, but time set aside to learn and practice. Everyone is in a different place in their AI learning journey and there is no replacement to problem solving as a group.

Vine Ventures
Carta is building AI-first tools to give customers more access to and greater leverage from their data wherever they want to work.
For John McIlree, VP of finance & ops at Vine Ventures, that place is Slack. McIlree recently built a Slack bot that connects Claude to his firm’s Data Warehouse in Carta, so he can answer bespoke portfolio queries on the fly, such as individual commitment amounts, net asset values from a particular date, and historical investment details.
"We have always been able to effectively access our information in Carta. With the Carta Plugin, we're now able to surface that information directly in Slack and handle all types of questions using natural language—from routine checks to more nuanced cross-fund or partner analyses. Instead of pulling reports and manually aggregating information, we can simply ask in Slack and get the answer in real-time—whether we're at our desks, in meetings, or on the go."
Internal transformation
Two staff-facing releases this week demonstrate Carta’s commitment to rebuilding around AI to the benefit of customers. In our fund tax product, we’re now using LLMs to extract data from any previous K-1s shared through the platform. That information is piped into a fund’s tax workpaper so that updated K-1s are issued faster. We also released functionality for custom reporting in the Carta CLI, so our in-house fund admins can create, preview, and publish capital call notices and distributions entirely within Claude, freeing up capacity to support firms with bespoke reporting needs.
The agentic loops that we’re building internally today will eventually be available to you via the Carta Plugin. As we stress test and harden these tools, we’re ensuring they’re customer-ready—so that one day soon, you’ll be able to generate custom reports and retrieve K-1 data directly from your Claude instance.

AI tools for customers
In April we launched three Claude Plugins that bring Carta data directly into your AI workflow, so you can ask questions, run scenarios, and surface insights without switching context. Each plugin is a package of skills—reusable commands trained on Carta's data models and workflows—that you can use natively in Claude, instead of the Carta platform, allowing you to interact with live systems of record in natural language. Learn how to gain early access in our blog post.
Cap Table Plugin
As a cap table product user, including investors, you can query ownership data, retrieve valuation history, model waterfall or exit scenarios, and more.

Customer feedback
Delta-v
Kyle Rogers, COO at venture capital firm Delta-v, tested the Carta Investors Plugin on two specific workflows: LP tear sheet generation and Form ADV inputs.
Without the plugin, Rogers recently used Claude to complete the firm’s Form ADV, feeding it financial statements from Delta-v’s 26 funds one by one. With the plugin, Rogers could submit a single prompt in Claude and achieve the same output. “It blew me away,” said Rogers.
Internal transformation
Earlier this year, we rolled out Claude to the entire company. Within weeks our center of gravity moved from disparate systems to the Command Line Interface (CLI). We’ve built and launched Carta CLI to our internal teams to allow them to access Carta through Claude.
We've been holding offsites for every major product area, including onboarding, liquidity, valuations, expenses, and fund tax to help our teams rearchitect their workflows for an AI-native future. At these offsites, our R&D and delivery teams are examining current processes, reimagining them, and building the commands and skills we need to unlock state change.
As a result, cash reconciliation now happens via the CLI, with Claude processing transactions in advance and batching by confidence level to improve team efficiency. On fund tax, internal teams can run quality assurance checks on an entity’s tax returns from their Claude instance. Carta's CLI functionality operates entirely within Claude's secure environment—your data does not leave the system and is never exposed externally.
Why does this matter to you?
First, because everything we build in the CLI, will eventually be available to you via the Carta Plugin. We’re stress testing and hardening these agentic loops internally before promoting, giving you more confidence.
Second, because you might be thinking about how you get started on an AI transformation within your organization. We can’t stress enough how valuable it is to get everyone in the same room brainstorming, building, testing, and iterating. It’s a game changer!
