The AI comments do 3 terrible things:
1. They swamp actual thoughts from readers in a morass of half re-written slop. Which is particularly lame because the real comments are 50% of the fun of the platform.
2. They impose laziness and disrespect on the original poster (here's something I didn't write, hope you respond and waste your time).
3. They wreck the reputation of the AI commenter (whether or not they care is a different question).
Of course you just block when you notice it, but the ambient level of dead internet is saddening sometimes.
