Founders, heads up - new venture deal negotiations are about to slow way down.

Deals currently under negotiation will still feel frenzied. In fact, December is typically the month in which the most venture deals are signed.

But - most of those discussions began in the prior couple months. It's pretty tricky to start engaging in a full fundraising process after the Thanksgiving holiday here in the US.

That's why January is usually the slowest month for signed deals (and Feb not much better). But deal negotiations begun in the new year often culminate in March signatures.

  • Prep. Get that investor list in pristine shape, ready the perfect email outreach, connect with the folks you'll need to generate warm intros.

  • Build. Just because fundraising will likely slow doesn't mean your product trajectory needs to!

  • Gain knowledge. I'm hosting a number of fundraising data sessions between now and January, starting with 9am PT sharp on Monday. We'll cover co-founder equity, compensating advisors and early employees, and wrap up with a lot of new data on pre-seed and seed fundraising. Register here: https://lnkd.in/g8z5yVKW

Capital is out there - but timing matters!

Here's to a better deal environment across the board in 2025.
