Founders in the fundraising sprint - here's how much is raised in each VC round.

Data from 2,340 primary rounds raised in 2024. US startups only, no bridge rounds included.

𝗦𝗲𝗲𝗱 (𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗱 + 𝗦𝗔𝗙𝗘 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗳 $𝟮𝗠 𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲)

  • Median cash today: $3.6M

  • 68% were under $5M

  • 19% jump in median round size from 2023

𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗔

  • $10.6M median

  • 4 in 10 rounds fell in the $10M-$24M tier

  • Median up 6% since 2023

𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗕

  • Round sizes all over the place!

  • $21M median, up 5$ from last year

𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗖

  • $35.7M median, up a sizable 27% from 2023

  • Widely distributed, but more than half go over $25M

𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗗

  • $42.6M median, up 5% since last year

  • About a third of rounds in this stage hit $100M

𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀

  • Seed rounds raise pretty significant cash these days (our seed definition includes SAFE rounds of at least $2M btw).

  • Series A has been floating around $10M for multiple years without much change.

  • Founders are not seeing increased dilution even though round sizes have ticked upwards.

  • Both the number of rounds and the median cash raised rose in all stages from 2023 to 2024. We're nowhere near 2021 levels, but healthier than last year for sure.
