Carta now auto-syncs K-1 data between layers of nested fund structures, eliminating manual re-entry for every fund-of-funds relationship.

What it is

Carta now automatically syncs K-1 data across fund layers for fund-of-funds structures. When the lower tier K-1 is prepared on Carta, the relevant data flows up to the upper tier automatically — no exports, no copy-paste, no reconciliation between systems — and a full audit trail is preserved across both layers.

Why it matters

For GPs managing fund-of-funds structures, K-1 re-entry can be a source of error and delay — with every fund relationship adding another manual step, and any mistakes leading to amended returns for LPs. With automatic K-1 data syncing on Carta, GPs can trust that the figures flowing to LPs match what was prepared at the lower tier. For large portfolios with many underlying fund relationships, the time savings compound.

How it works

This is available to all fund-of-funds structures administered on Carta, so long as upper and lower tier funds are both administered on Carta. Where lower tiers are not administered on Carta, K-1 will still need to be entered manually.
