Private capital runs on spreadsheets and disconnected systems—but it doesn’t have to. Learn how Carta is building the first network ERP for private capital.

Carta’s next evolution—An ERP for Private Capital

Software for the Office of the Fund CFO

Great software solutions exist for CFOs of operating companies, from Fortune 1000 companies all the way down to small businesses. But CFOs for private capital firms only have spreadsheets, legacy systems, and outsourced service providers.

Nobody has built software for the Office of the Fund CFO. And that’s what we are committed to solving.

How we got here

Carta began with the simple solution of fixing cap tables. We solved this by taking recordkeeping and management out of error-prone spreadsheets, and into software. By digitizing stock certificates and storing them in the cloud, we made it easy for founders and CFOs to issue and track company ownership.

Then, we disrupted fund admin, by taking fund financial data out of spreadsheets owned by outsourced providers and moving it into software. By digitizing fund financial data, we made it easy for fund CFOs to have visibility and control over their data.

This has been the North Star for Carta—moving spreadsheets and services into software—and we are continuing this mission by tackling all offline and outdated workflows in private capital.

Network effect

Carta is the only platform connected to the full private capital ecosystem—the startup, the venture/private equity investor, and the LP. This network effect makes our software incredibly powerful: Instead of trying to splice together a disconnected ensemble of software and spreadsheets, all of the products within our ecosystem integrate with one another, providing seamless, real-time data sync—a single source of truth.

This is the framework for an ERP.

A Network ERP for Private Capital

Carta’s suite of products covers a wide range of specific solutions, such as valuations, tax & compliance, fund reporting, portfolio analytics, and LP portfolio management. Taken altogether, they make up a single integrated platform—a Network ERP for Private Capital.
