Ignore the headlines. $100M seed rounds are NOT the norm.
In fact, that level of capital only arrives in ~1% of seed deals.
Here's the breakdown by stage:
Seed - $4.1M median - 60% under $5M
Series A - $12M median - 40% between $10M-$25M
Series B - $25M median - kinda all over the place, but a concentration from $20M-$50M
Series C - $40M median - This stage is distributed quite widely
Series D - $53M median - AI median: $140M (!) - Right-tail weighted
Geography (are you in SF?), industry (are you AI-native?), and investor type (mega-fund vs emerging funds) can jerk these numbers around.
But founders can save themselves some emotional turmoil if they avoid the headlines whenever possible 🙏
