The first five videos in this series were about getting comfortable with Claude itself, how to prompt, how to set up artifacts, and how to build your AI habits. This video is about showing you what's possible when you plug Carter into Chord and how to map your funds daily work to the right plug in capabilities. Because different tasks require different levels of precision, interaction, and control, getting a clear picture of how the investors plug in operates is the most useful place to start. I'm Scarlett Pierce.
I lead product marketing for Carter's investors plug in for Cord. In this video, I want to give you a clear picture of what's possible, a sense of the different kinds of work you can actually do with the plugin, because understanding the difference changes which skills you reach for and when. We've grouped the plugin capabilities into four distinct ways that you can get work done. These are queries for instant source accurate answers from your fund data, deliverables for polished point in time reports ready for LPs or the board, workspaces and apps for live operational launch pads and dynamic modeling sandboxes, and fund operations for executing real transactions directly in Carter with full governance.
Let's take a look at what each mode unlocks for your fund. Queries, instant answers from your data. The first mode is where most fund CFOs start. A query is a point in time lookup, a specific question answered directly from Carter's system of record.
What's our net IRR for fund three as of last quarter? How does that compare against our vintage cohort? What's our total unfunded commitment across fund two? Instead of exporting the data and spending an hour in spreadsheets, you ask one plain English question.
The skills in this category cover core data retrieval tasks that fund teams run daily, SOI builder, fund performance, LP positions, capital activity, co investor history, and benchmark comparisons. The schedule of investment skill is the one that CFOs reach for the most. Let's see it in action. Customizing and sharing your SOI with your GP or investment team means exporting to Excel and rebuilding the exact view you want by hand.
With a single prompt, Claude pulls live portfolio data across your funds into an interactive dashboard. Toggle between funds, filter by portfolio company, or drill into share counts, cost, valuation, and more. You get real time, customizable portfolio tracking in seconds. Accuracy is critical here.
These aren't AI estimates or generated guesses. Claude is reading directly from Carter's live system of record. Every number reflects your actual accounting ledger, giving you the precision required for LP reporting and audit prep. Other data retrieval skills in this mode include fund performance for TVPI, DPI, and net IRR by LP, fund benchmarking to benchmark against peer cohorts by vintage and strategy, and co investor lookup to analyze co investor participation straight from your SPA data.
Reports and deliverables, polished outputs ready to share. The second mode is about producing final ready to distribute work products. In fund finance, you don't present moving targets to LPs, auditors, or the SEC. You need locked, reconciled, point in time snapshots tied to a specific cutoff date.
These skills don't just pull data from Carter. They construct the finished document. So instead of spending hours pulling quarter end numbers into a PowerPoint, a skill like the AGM deck builder formats, validates, and packages the exact output ready for distribution. One like the consolidated balance sheet skill will roll up every entity for a specific point in time and output the formatted report.
Let's take a look at two examples. This is the AGM deck builder skill inside Carta's investors plug in for Claude. Building annual meeting materials off platform usually takes days of manual data pulling, slide formatting, and brand alignment. With a single prompt, parallel agents extract your firm's brand identity while fetching live fund metrics from Carta, automating slides for NAV growth, deal level IRRs, benchmark comparisons, and portfolio KPIs.
You get a fully customizable LP ready presentation in minutes instead of days. A great example of a reporting skill is our Manco budgeting skill, which pairs your Excel budget with live Carta actuals to automatically build account level variance reports. Your budget lives in Excel. Make it dynamic, bringing in your live fund data with Claude as the intelligence layer.
Pull your budget and year to date actuals directly from Carta. Compare them side by side down to the account level. Drill into cost centers and trace key variances back to the individual journal entries behind them. In this case, two vendors that weren't accounted for in the original plan.
The variance has a clear explanation, and you have the answers you need to adjust your budget. Other skills this category include portfolio tear sheets for on demand LP updates and budget versus actuals for formatted operational variance reporting. Workspaces and apps, dynamic launchpads, interactive sandboxes. With workspaces and apps, solves the empty chat box problem.
Instead of logging in to Claude and wondering where to start, WorkSpaces act as your persistent command center. Artifacts like Kartr Home and the Work Hub surface real time fund health, capital call progress, and pending tasks, giving you an instant operational launchpad to trigger your next workflow. Let's take a look at a workspace, Carta Home. Carta Home is a live artifact that serves as your home base for fund data, performance data, and the latest updates from the Carda Investors plug in.
Two of the things it displays are active capital calls and distributions. In this example, you can see which partners are involved, whether they've paid or not paid, and you can send out reminders from here. You can craft and preview the reminder message and send it out directly to that partner without ever having to go to the Carta desktop app. Carta Home also features pre built dashboards like the SOI.
You can choose to see your full firm's SOI or filter it to show specific funds only. There's a dashboard showing performance metrics across all funds, with a fund specific view also available. For a deeper dive into that particular fund, you can see metrics like the size of the fund, dry powder, TVPI, DPI, and so on. Cardahome also includes benchmarks, so you can compare how your fund is performing against others in the same cohort.
Under capabilities to try, you'll find prompt suggestions that you can copy and paste into a Claude chat to discover new things that can be done with the plug in. There's also plug in news, featuring customer stories and virtual events to help you stay in the know. The last thing in Carta Home is the skill directory, which lists every skill available in the investors plug in you never miss a new release. Micro apps, on the other hand, are your analytical sandboxes.
Tools like the fund modeling micro app let you take that live data and manipulate scenario variables, like testing follow on check sizes or modeling exit liquidity, without touching your actual system of record. These are skills that you run-in Claude and save the output locally to your machine. They're infinitely customizable and shareable with your teams. The fun modeling micro app is a skill that you run-in Claude code that produces an interactive and customizable app where you can slice data, adjust variables, and run live scenarios.
It's a local web app Claude generates on your machine, one you control and that's fully yours to customize. It starts from your real Carta data, with your complete carry logic already built in. Create a scenario and adjust a company's valuation with a simple slider. See the impact of that change across your entire portfolio, including on your LP returns and GP economics.
Economics. Then benchmark against cohorts of funds on Carta, model reserves for new deals, or customize charts and metrics to fit your needs. Together, workspaces tell you where to start your day, and micro apps give you the canvas to make complex decisions. Fund operations, direct execution in Carter.
The final mode is where Claude moves from answering questions to executing actual fund operations. Fund operations skills are write capable, allowing you to initiate transactions and update system of record directly from your chat window. The capital call skill is a prime example. Click compose to see a list of quick actions, including capital calls, valuation updates, LP transfers, and more.
The quick actions guide you to ensure all appropriate information is included in your request. Fill out the details and attach any relevant files. You can save draft work as a plan until you're ready to submit to the Carta team. Once requests have been picked up, you'll see a response from your Carta team under tasks to complete.
Any task initiated through Workhub is routed through Carta's existing controls, including user permissions, staff reviews, and health checks. This last mode of work in Carta's plug ins is where AI moves from answering questions to actually getting work done. So you can initiate capital calls, new portfolio investments, or run cash reconciliations without opening five separate tabs. One note about permissions.
We know how important it is for fund finance teams that execution isn't a black box. Every action triggered through Claude is governed by Carter's existing permission structures, dual authorization controls, and staff review health checks. You get the speed of conversational execution with the safety of institutional grade controls. So to bring it all together, working with Carter's plug ins in Claude comes down to four basic ways to get work done.
Queries, when you just need insights from your fund data. Deliverables, when you need a finished point in time document for your LPs or your board. Workspaces and apps, when you want to launch your day from a live dashboard or run interactive models. And fund operations, when you're ready to execute real transactions with full institutional controls.
No matter what task is on your plate, there's a mode of working and a set of skills that match how you work. You can get started right now. The Carter Investors plug in is live in the Anthropic marketplace today. Install the plug in, and you'll instantly unlock all of these capabilities with new skills shipping continuously.
