The fear that companies built before AI arrived are structurally disadvantaged is growing louder among PE and VC investors across every vintage.

This feeling, that the companies born before AI are screwed, isn’t just a PE worry.

As we get further away from the prior valuation run up of 2021, the whispers about what happens to the oldercorns and the prior acquisitions and all of software gets louder.

But many companies caught the AI wave and have transformed themselves. Enough to tip the fund returns? Unclear.

I guess everyone across asset classes is responding to the same set of concerns these days.
