Total investment into pre-seed companies on SAFEs rose from 2021 to 2022. Basically the only segment of the market that saw real growth.

You can clearly see the giant jump in accepted SAFEs by Carta companies in the chart below. Some of this was the explosion of interest in angel investing (and some was Carta building a great workflow for sending and accepting SAFEs in our Launch product).

Given the SAFE is the default vehicle for angel investing (86% of pre-seed investing went thru SAFEs in Q4), this growth is most welcome.
