AI has touched every part of startups - so it stands to reason compensation would be no different.

AI-native startups hire in fundamentally different ways than their older, non-AI native counterparts. As the chart above shows , the mix of roles particularly within the data and machine learning orgs at these companies has shifted strongly towards AI engineering titles.

AI-native companies also pay more (usually in larger equity packages) to AI/ML engineers than other positions, though they have a fondness for AI-native GTM talent as well.
