Move to the Bay Area, don't move to the Bay Area, do whatever you want.
But prices do differ widely!
Interesting stuff:
1. Bay Area has the highest median valuations, the highest 25th pct valuations, and the highest 75th pct valuations. And the most rounds. No slowing down here.
2. New York fares much better in share of Series A rounds vs the Bay than it does in total capital invested.
3. These are PRICEY Series As, at least historically. I realize in today's AI infrastructure wave a paltry $60M post-money may not seem like much...but compared to any other time period these are expensive.
4. Some ecosystems are driven by 1 industry (say Biotech in San Diego). Others are quite well rounded (Austin, Los Angeles, DC).
5. Raising at the highest possible valuation ≠ the correct decision in all cases.
Happy fundraising 🙏
