We're announcing our acquisition of Avantia Law, an AI-enabled law firm serving private funds, and introducing Carta Law to the market.
Avantia is an amazing business. The pitch is pretty simple:
Many PE and VC firms pay top-tier law firms to do high volume but ultimately uncomplicated legal work, and they shouldn’t.
AI unlocks the ability to deliver legal services at a much lower cost.
Customers still want the benefits of a law firm but a different cost structure.
But that gets a power boost when you connect it into our existing AI fund platform.
𝗘𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝗲 - 𝗟𝗣 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗲𝗿𝘀
Take an LP transfer in the new world. A GP would use Carta Law to negotiate the transfer, dealing with both exiting and incoming LPs. Carta Law handles the KYC checks, and then the final executed transfer agreement flows through to the GL and the partners list. All without the fund having to be the intermediary between your LPs, your law firm, and your fund admin.
Lawyers deserve to focus on strategic work, not repetitive tasks.
