The 3 skillsets you need to build data content that catches fire:
1. Data visualization
Seems obvious! Skills in Tableau, Looker, Power BI, D3js, etc etc are definitely helpful when your goal is to build charts that people just have to share.
But don't be intimidated if you've never charted before. Many of the entry tools like Datawrapper are simple to pick up and experiment with. And we've got a whole wave of cool AI chart creators coming where you'll ask the program to make a chart for you in English. OpenAI's Code Interpreter is here already.
2. Storytelling
Positioning, copywriting - these things are still must-haves even if the content in question is data-focused. What does this data mean for your audience? How will they use these findings to build better businesses? Make the results as salient to their day to day as possible.
3. Influence-building
Internally, you'll probably need some help getting the databases in the right shape to start producing consistent graphics. You may need to handle some delicate conversations around data privacy.
Externally, it pays to ingratiate yourself to other creators in your space and use your data to help their efforts. Much easier to go viral with friends :)
