LinkedIn: Seed Round Sizes Are More Normal Than Headlines Suggest

Seed founders - don't let crazy French AI rounds fool you.

The median USA priced equity seed round on Carta is currently raising $3.1 million USD.

81% of priced equity seed rounds in Q2 (not complete data yet, but still good numbers) are coming in below $6 million raised.

As you can see in the heatmap below, there was a shift towards slightly bigger seed rounds in late 2021 and early 2022. But that has mostly reverted back in recent quarters.

So far in 2023 on Carta:

  • 49 seed rounds have raised more than $6 million

  • 509 have raised less than $6 million

So congrats to Mistral! But that's not the norm :)
