Friday Q&A - how can founders save thousands of $ during their next round?
Being honest, closing costs for early rounds have gotten out of control. Founders pay anywhere between est. $40k – $120k to close their Seed and A rounds.
This includes lots of legal and administrative expenses from diligence, document negotiation, signature creation, closing, etc etc. Admin work is not the highest, best use of billable hours (in our opinion).
Again - this means that when your 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 closes and you expect to get say $2 million in a bank account...$100k might already be gone!
So we built Carta Deal Concierge.
If you're a Carta cap table customer, when you get a term sheet you come to our Deal Concierge. You get a team of knowledgeable Cartans, including many former lawyers, and you pay us a flat fee instead of hourly rates. Basically the whole history of Carta is turning mind-numbing email exchanges with attached spreadsheets and documents into software.
Bonus: I'm personally working on these initial Deal Concierge deals, finding out exactly what's "market" for companies in your space and stage.
Come raise your round with us 🙏
