LinkedIn: Investor Preferences Have Shifted Dramatically From 2019 to 2023

Founders: heads up the investor preferences are on the move.

In 2019, 11% of capital invested into Carta companies went to Fintech companies. 14% went to Consumer, and only 2% went to Renewable Energy.

So far in 2023?

  • 5% to Fintech

  • 8% to Consumer

  • 11% to Renewable Energy

Now, to be clear, there is overall far less investment happening this year than took place in 22 and 21. But it does seem as though venture capital is more open to industries that had been rather neglected in the past (especially those that deal in atoms rather than bits, like Energy and Hardware).
