LinkedIn: Only 9 Percent of Engineering Execs at Startups Are Women

9% women engineering execs in startups.

18% women execs in Sales. 20% in Finance, 21% in Data, and 24% in Product.

Data based on US startups on Carta looking at hires made in the last two years - and earlier years were not meaningfully better across most functions.

List of the top functions by exec compensation:

1. Engineering 2. Research (for science-based startups) 3. Finance 4. Legal 5. Product 6. Sales (if you include bonuses) 7. Data

Tiny silver lining - 2024 saw the percentages for women execs across those more technical functions increase a little. But the general picture is still rather dim.
