Data Minute: Tender offer volume is skyrocketing - HeaderData Minute: Carta for LPs - Chart

In past editions of this newsletter, I've talked broadly about the data on startup M&A.

Today, we are adding to that dataset! Carta has acquired Accelex, the leading product for allocators to manage their alternative asset data - and from this acquisition, Carta LP Portfolio Analytics is born.

So - why do I care? And more importantly, why should you?

Because private markets depend on the flow of capital from LPs. And right now, those LPs are drowning in partial, scattered, and degraded data. If you'd like to see allocations to emerging managers grow, for example, you need to help solve problems for the capital allocators upstream.

Imagine you're an investor at a large endowment. Every quarter, you roll this data boulder up the hill, trying to wrangle accurate information from hundreds of VC, PE, and Private Credit funds (and thousands of underlying portfolio companies). Every hour you spend double-checking spreadsheets is a new manager meeting skipped or an exciting investment foregone.

Subscribe here if you're new to the Data Minute. Forwarding encouraged!
