Friends. Romans. Data people. Lend me your ears…erm, eyes.

This was a GOOD WEEK here at Carta, especially if you're a VC on our fund admin platform.

First, per the chart above, we went ahead and explored data from 2,442 special purpose vehicles (SPVs). That's right, we're talking SPV size, LP count, GP commit, management fees, IRR - all the good stuff.

The data comes from US-domiciled SPVs created by an institutional venture fund, so no syndicate figures this go around.

You can read the full SPV Spotlight: Q3 2024 right now (and do sign up for the waitlist at the bottom of the article to get a copy of expanded SPV performance metrics in Q1).

But wait - that's not all that happened this week.

Carta acquired Tactyc, venture's best platform for fund forecasting and portfolio construction.

This software is sick. You build the basic framework for your fund through easy prompts - and then dance through scenarios as new data and assumptions come to live. For instance, what happens to fund returns if:

I change my reserve ratio from 20% to 30%?

My most recent seed investment is acquired before their Series B?

A future investor receives an above market liquidation preference?

Of course these scenarios are only as good as the figures underlying their assumptions - which is why connecting Tactyc into the Carta hub of startup data is so alluring.

Some weeks are just good weeks.
